HBA Committees

Get Involved… Get the Most from Membership… Join a Committee!!

The HBA leadership is committed to creating strong, vital committees to guide our association into the future. The time commitment varies for each committee. Some require monthly meetings, others meet on an as needed basis, requiring just a few hours.

Government Affairs

The responsibility of this committee is to recommend association policy on legislative, regulatory and legal issues to the Board of Directors. The committee monitors and tracks government activities and issues that may have an impact on the industry. (See GA Committee Form for more details.)

Public Affairs/Community Service

The committee’s purpose is to bring the positives of our industry to light through our actions, media coverage, branding and to assist the Government Affairs Committee as needed. The committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday each month at 8:30 am at the HBA office.

Membership/Retention/Benefits

Working in conjunction with staff, this committee will plan and conduct programs for membership development. The committee will establish goals, both immediate and long‑range, for membership development and retention. The committee will provide appropriate recognition of new members and their sponsors. This committee meets once a month on the 1st Thursday at the HBA at 8:30 am.

Programs & Events

This committee is broken down into specific events. Meetings take place as needed in advance of the event for planning purposes. Events include General Membership Dinner Meetings, Leadership Recognition & Awards Events, PASS Breakfast (March), Public Officials Night (May-SB, September-SLO), Stampede Barbeque (August), and the Terrence B. Flatley Annual Golf Classic (October).

Education

The committee reviews seminars of interest to members throughout the year. Meets on an as needed basis.

Newsletter

The committee meets 6 times per year to review materials and make recommendations for content and purpose.
