Joining the Government Affairs Committee
The San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County Government Affairs Committees are always looking for new members who are interested in serving as the Home Builders Association’s front line in our contact with local government.
Both committees meet once a month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. with the Santa Barbara Committee meeting on the first Thursday and the San Luis Obispo Committee meeting on the second Thursday. Every six months, the two committees hold a combined meeting. Each committee rotates its meeting locations at several locations around the individual county in order to equalize travel time and convenience for the members.
Committee members are supposed to attend at least 60 % of the meetings each year and may name a designated alternate to attend meetings when the member cannot.
Meeting reminders, agendas and agenda material are distributed by e-mail for each meeting. Copies of the material and a small packet of relevant local news clippings are also provided at each meeting.
If you would like to volunteer to serve on either committee, please e-mail jbunin@hbacc.org or phone 546-0418 Ext 22. You may also contact Santa Barbara Committee Chairman Urban McLellan at urban@theurbancompany.com or 545-9160 and San Luis Obispo Committee Chairman Greg Nester at 481-5281 or greg@gregnesterhomes.com.
